  Independent Kyokushin Karate Union

Kyokujitsu Kyokushin Karate Club has been based in the village of Little Hadham, Hertfordshire, UK since September 2005, with a sister club recently opened in Henham, Essex in November 2013.  The name of the club ‘Kyokujitsu’ means ‘rising sun’ and is symbolic of a fresh start or new beginning. The Club holds training sessions three times a week (Monday, Wednesday and Saturday) in Little Hadham and once in Henham (Thursday) and currently has about forty students registered.

Senpai Catherine started training in March 1999 at the Bishop’s Stortford Dojo with Senpai Dave Bedbrook.  She achieved Shodan in 2005 and Nidan in 2010.  She has represented England (IKO GB) for WUKO and won the English and GB Championship titles in Clicker for three years running and placed 2nd at national level in knockdown before retiring from competition in 2013. Senpai Catherine has two boys who help with the running of the club - Jamie and Benny have both won English and GB knockdown, clicker and kata titles and they represented GB Kyokushin at the 2011 World Tournament in Tokyo, which Catherine attended as their coach.  Jamie, the eldest, also won the MOKKO Welsh Championship twice as a junior and the Dutch National Championship in 2011 and, at 18 years and one month, was the youngest ever winner of the GB Kyokushin Mens Lightweight in 2012.  Away from the dojo, Senpai Catherine is a personal trainer and fitness instructor - so life pretty much revolves around press ups and punchbags!
