Sensei Trevor started his martial arts journey at 17 with, what was the most common style in his area at the time; Taekwondo. Despite a natural level of flexibility he didn't feel challenged and continued to experiment with multiple disciplines. In the late eighties he began training in Kyokushin Karate, this proved to be the style that suited him the best. One of his favourite sayings is; "The martial arts is a personal journey, there is no wrong or right style, only one that is wrong or right for you."
After a break from training and having gaining a significant amount of weight he returned to Kyokushin Karate, determined to never take a break again. His initial focus was to regain his fitness and lose weight but with a competitive spirit, he turned his attention to both competing and grading. By 2009 he had achieved two of his life time goals, winning a knockdown tournament and gaining his black belt, Since 2009 he has gone on to complete his 2nd and 3rd degree black belts and placed 2nd in 3 International, Open Knockdown Tournaments and coached multiple champions.
Sensei Trevor is the head coach at Herne Kyokushin and holds the position of National Knockdown coach.
